How to Fix: Charging your Toucan Video Doorbell and Outdoor Camera
We get a lot of different questions regarding the Toucan Wireless Video Doorbell and the Toucan Wireless Outdoor Camera's battery. The biggest question we get is about battery life and how users are able to maximize the life of their current battery.
Both the Toucan Wireless Outdoor Camera and Wireless Video Doorbell have lithium ion batteries and require charging depending on how often motion detection is being captured. Battery life can range on different factors including how often you open your Live Feed on the app to view your live footage, how many events are captured on the app, and items (branches, wind chimes etc) around your camera that might trigger the camera to turn on but not record any events. If you have a lot of activity in front of your camera, multiple people walking back or many deliveries etc, your battery will not last as long as those who report less than 10 events per day.
So when should you charge my Toucan camera or doorbell? Should you just try to keep it fully (or near fully) charged all the time?
Our answer: Whenever you want! Our Wireless Outdoor Camera and Wireless Video Doorbell use rechargeable built-in lithium batteries, so there’s really no issue with battery capacity or performance being affected by charging it whenever you want at whatever capacity you want. Ideally, you don’t want to let the battery go flat because then your camera will be offline. However, there’s no issue with recharging the camera when it’s nearly full or when it’s nearly flat.
Our recommendation, so you have as little “down time” as possible, is to charge the camera up when it’s at around 10% capacity. Again, there’s no problem with recharging it at a lower or higher capacity and it won’t affect the battery either way.

Charging wireless Toucan video doorbell. I have installed a short charging cable through the wall and when charging is required we don’t have to go outside and remove the doorbell and bring it inside but simply connect another cable from a charging adapter to the end of the cable from the outside and monitor the charging session from the Toucan app.
This works like a charm! We are disabled and in our 70s.
Love the video doorbell. It allows us to monitor our driveway, sidewalk andfront porch and door.
Thanks for a very useful product. Kudos to you all.
